For a start, a robust key binding system, arguably the best ever when SC2 was originally released in 2010, and which has since been widely copied. There are a large number of small quality of life differences which collectively add up to a much smoother and more polished experience also. Now let me get back to becoming a Diamond Zerg Master and Sweaty Elitist Tower Wizard that I am destined to become.until COH 3 multi-player/skirmish slice is released anyways! Thanks to my coworker and and mention in that thread allowed me to find another few hours of enjoyable gaming so for that I thank you both. This thread is to not to start a SC2 side-by-side comparison to COH but just to provide my recent experience playing the game mentioned in a few of these COH 3 threads. For that reason I feel like COH is a much engrossing experience where to their own slogan, EVERY BATTLE TELLS A STORY. Losing a squad feels more personal in COH, opposed to a marine I pump those suckers out in the masses sending them to the slaughter not blinking twice. I feel like DOW and COH are more traditional than SC2 but I could be wrong.įinally I'd say that's one reason i do enjoy COH series is I like in COH how we don't have to manage resources/bases/upgrading for each unit or at least nearly as much compared to those other games like SC2 allowing us to focus moreso on the tactics and pacing action and not the minutiae of economy etc. I almost feel like it is similar but really a different experience, not a traditional RTS or maybe COH is not the traditional RTS. COH is probably super slow to you guys as far as APM and micro. I also feel going from coh to sc2 is harder that it would be for someone coming from playing SC2 over to coh. ![]() The zerg kept infesting the villages and in my turtle ways can't let them build up but must be more aggressive. I have already had to look up several specific maps guides to beat a specific map in the campaign, but I sort of like that challenge even if i'm researching how to beat the map I like how the game unapologetically defeats me and I'm playing Normal mode, it's quite humbling. It's extremely deep and hard for me to adjust as my micro which mine is not good already. I think that game is obviously made more for the hardcore arcade esport crowd and that alone differentiates it from coh. I can see what and were talking/debating about in the thread US Forces Faction. It's very much a nostalgic experience for me although I've never played the game before, and so far it's been really entertaining primarily for that reason. Anyways, I started playing SC2 this weekend and it reminds me (maybe strictly due to obvious it's Blizzard games) but it reminds me of Warcraft(even C&C a bit) era of games I grew up playing in my youth. I guess it's not something you announce to everyone you meet or work with that you're a StarCraft gamer. I just found out a person I work with plays the game, I've worked with them for 5 years and he's older than me and he made a reference about the Zerg. If it was advertised on Steam and free I would have been playing the game years ago when I got the latest laptop. ![]() So I think one reason I haven't gotten into SC2 is it's not on Steam but on Blizzards own platform. Another game I have not played but see constantly references is Total War which I embarrassingly have yet to play as well, but one game at a time here. How could I not at least try it? There has been so many references in these threads especially from experienced gamers, I had to try it. So I may be the last man on earth to have just started playing StarCraft 2, but I was told recently it's free.
